[ « Back ] It's the Punk Rock Princess and she's at a Something Corporate show. She's slightly Goth... and...

i love how soo many of you people looking at this site are so anti this video. honestly, you are most likely jealous that this pretty girl is depicted as a punk because more than likely you think you are one. honestly, lets not be too bitter about the fact that well, she got the part and did fine at it. furthermore, i love this song, and every song ive heard of SoCo. everyone trying to say they are cliche shouldn't be talking because i honestly dont think they are out there to exploit themselves as this hard core punk band. Garage band kings is more appropriate. if it wasnt, then the lyrics in this song would be, "i would be your hardcore punk anti media 'non-conformist' king" so get over yourselves because the song and video are pretty damn good. thanks
Ok, so I don't like the description, (punk and goth??)but I still have loved the song long before the video. So what if the "Princess" was obviously a model of some sort and the video can be looked upon as cliche. I'd like to see all the people complaining about it come up with a better concept for the video. I liked it, good job.

you guys all must live in socal somewhere, cuz no one asked us here in boston to be extras!!! no fair!!!!! a konstantine vid would be fun, except it would be a short film more than a vid! also that's just a really beautiful song for the sake of the song itself, a vid might take away from it. when you hear this song live, it's just on a whole different level, it's like everyone's feeling the same pain and frustration at the same time, it's really a huge great experience, and making a video of every other song kinda trivializes them i think.
Ive seen this video like 10 times now, cuz I downloaded it on Kazaa...Did they ever even release it here in the US? Its a good video, but I would rather that Soco released one of the songs that I am in love with like Walking By or Cavanaugh Park. I hate to say it but it looks like this video is aimed to please the trl crowd :(..Its all good though, because them being the most amazing band in the world I think they deserve success!
Oh yeah and I was reading the other comments on here and I realized that Andrew actually does look exeptionally nice in this video. But I saw them live a few days ago, and he looks just as great in person too ;)
Rock on guys!
Ok, here's what I think.I think this is a great vid for a great song. This was one of the first songs I heard, and I love it, along with every other SoCo song.Something Corporate has such an original and amazing sound, thats why they have so many TRUE fans.Who cares if they aren't on TV 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?It keeps them real and humble, and lets them know they do have true fans who don't have to see their video on TRL to know its "cool".These guys are true musicians, and their aren't any of them around. They are in it to make the music, not to be famous or be on MTV and the radio every 5 minutes. They know who their fans are, and we know who we are.

If they don't end up releasing this in the US their completely mental! Like 30 seconds into the video I could tell it would get mad play on MTV and Much! Besides the song is so beautiful "If you could be my punk rock princess I would be your heroine" The only bad part is Andrew would have teenies all over him because he looks to hot in the video! ;)
I dont know if this video is great because my dial up speek is so slow I can barely watch it.. but I do have to say the song is one of their songs that I did not want to be realeased because I know the TRL crowd will love it. I dont want them to turn into all those other bands that sold out, and I hope they dont!
I think that they should have released another song, like Fall or Cavanaugh Park, but its okay because I love all their stuff so it really doesnt matter. I would have really liked to see this video on Much Music but so far they havent played it.
Personally I don’t think that people are judging the video with the right mind. He’s singing about a girl, she's his wanna be “punk rock princess.†He either had a relationship with her or wants one. She doesn’t like him, so he tries singing a song about her to get her to like him, even though he knows it’s never going to happen. “Maybe when your hair gets darker/maybe when your eyes get wide/maybe when the walls are smaller there will be more space†It’s never going to happen. Her hair is already as dark as it will probably ever get, and what would ever make anyone think that smaller walls would make more space? I see that in the video she goes to the concert and see’s him preform, and what do ya know, she resists, like he sings about. All that should be important is that the concept of the video goes along with the lyrics in the song. As for everyone’s complaints about the girl being too thin, too goth, and not dressed right . . . OH WELL, I think everyone is entitled to their own eating habits, and in some cases goth is punk, meaning she can dress(and the directors can dress her) anyway they like. And who cares if they’re on MTV, if they make it big it’ll be their choice to “sell-out†or not. Personally I think that it would be a good thing if more people could hear their music. Something Corporate has a nice refreshing sound, good lyrics and everyone in the band is really nice. They shouldn’t be judged by being on MTV, and if you stop liking them just because they’re getting bigger and other people like it, then maybe you were never really a fan, maybe you just listened to it to be “different.†Sorry if I offended anyone.
OMG I love the song Punk Rock Princess, as you can see. But yea this is like the billionth time I've seen it but the first time I've bothered to post a comment...I think. I can't really remember. But anyways, I love the video. It totally compliments the song and what it's about...like it should. I hate those videos that are crap they don't even relate to the songs. But not this one! I love how the video shows how the world around her is pretty much oblivious to her existance, like with the people appearing then kinda just fading out. It's like the world is working around her. It's just...I dunno I just LOVE it! hehe yay for SoCo.
i don't think you can fully analyze the song without the last verse, the one that isn't in the prp version, just the heroine one ("it was this time last year/ you're so much different now...") which kinda tells you that the girl really has changed, maybe dyed her hair or whatnot. i like that verse, i think it ties together the whole song, and i'm sorry it was cut from the album version.
the "punk rock princess" in the vid was sooo skinny(wonder if she touches carbs?)too much make up, but overall i really liked the vid!it sucks like mad since they dont sell ANY of soco's album where i live, even if they did, they did a pretty good job of hiding them!great job guys!(and andrew DOES look unusually hot in the vid!)
ROCK ON!
Well here's mine. Personally, I do like the song, and I like so much else that Something Corporate puts out. The video was so well done and all, but it seemed like it was lacking something, and that I can't quite put my finger on. I'm sure many fans love it, but my question is, does the band REALLY like it too? Emily
that is what is missing in the world today..stuff that is...well dare i say it..original..nice sound and ill-matic lyrics..LOL..yeah..it sound great at the Tabernacle when something corporate first came to the ATL..nice show..ya'll should come back around soon, i have been waiting for a good show to go to..and i'm still waiting..
I've read a few of the comments about the video and I think some people here need a reality check. The girl in the video is gorgeous (admit it!) and she is thin but she's not too skinny or anorexic! Before you call someone anorexic or imply they have an eating disorder, try researching it first. You have abviously never seen someone who is anorexic. She's thin and healthy. People CAN eat normally and stay thin! It's called a fast motabolism! Try thinking these things through before you post.
In reference to the video, I think it's great. I agree with everyone who said that the girl is pretty and everything BECAUSE she is his dream girl. She is "out of reach", she's the girl he wishes he had so she will be gorgeous and I ahve quite a few *punk* friends that are beautiful. Just because someone is punk or goth it doesn't mean they can't be thin or good looking!
Geez, stop being so narrow-minded and open your eyes!
Wow, this song, no matter if i hear it fast or slow, Im bouncing off the WALLS, moreso than any JM song. but w/e. i have not found my garage band king yet..hehe but omg, SOCO is the best! i love this music video too. im happy, YAY
